Celtic Fair is the result of chance meetings of four musicians who, as individuals and unknown to each other, were looking for ways of interpreting Celtic music with a difference. The desire to play the traditional tunes in musical arrangements which allowed the subtleties of the melodies and harmonies to be highlighted was a common and strong musical bond.

Celtic Fair does not pretend to be a folk group in competition with the many excellent groups which perform in that genre. Performances on the concert stage, for formal dinners, receptions, weddings, cruise ships and conferences are specialties of the group, and have always been a source of great enjoyment for Celtic Fair and as a result, their audiences. In more recent years, Celtic Fair added another specialty to its accomplishments - Scottish Country Dance. Celtic Fair is no stranger to the Scottish Country dance community and performances for formal dances are a regular occurrence.
